ryan f. mandelbaum is a science writer, nature educator, and wildlife photographer based in brooklyn. they write about the interaction between cities and nature for their newsletter "eyy i'm walkin here" and elsewhere, and lead bird tours for nyc bird alliance. you can now order their book, wild nyc, to be published by timber press in april 2025. please note that ryan identifies as nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns. when they aren't looking at animals, ryan is the editor-in-chief of ibm's quantum computing team.
